What to Avoid Throughout Invisalign Treatment
It revolutionised orthodontics as a treatment for teeth straightening; Invisalign is popular amongst teens in Australia at the moment. The invisibility of Invisalign is what makes it the treatment of choice for those needing orthodontic care.
Like any treatment, there are ways to make the right choices for ongoing effectiveness, the following of which Evergreen Dental professionals would recommend.
Avoid scratching your Invisalign
Our tip is simple, ensure you handle your Invisalign gently, especially when taking them in and out of your mouth. If you rush when taking the product out, they could break and scratch sometimes.
Stop, don’t touch!
Apart from taking Invisalign in and out of your mouth for meals and teeth brushing, keep your hands away from the product, especially during the initial few days. While it takes a little bit to get used to them, it’s essential to the integrity of the treatment that you leave it be.
Keep them clean
When wearing your Invisalign, try drink water only. Notably, pigmented or dark foods are likely to stain, leaving residue that reduces the invisibility of the product. Thorough brushing and flossing are essential after partaking in food to fend-off staining.
Do not rush with treatment
Invisalign needs time to move gently and slowly at a consistent pace for best effectiveness. If you rush the process, there’s a greater risk of issues such as shrinkage of teeth, making them unstable.
Avoid wearing Invisalign while eating
It’s recommended for best performance that you remove your Invisalign aligners and store them safely before meals unless your dentist told you to do so.
Brush your teeth!
It is recommended for all clients, regardless of their dental or orthodontic treatment, to floss and brush their teeth after meals regularly. It not only keeps your Invisalign aligners free from bacteria, but it also helps reduce smelly breath. However, if you’re unable to brush your teeth and floss, chewing sugar-free gum or a warm water mouth rinse is an acceptable alternative.
